Frequently Asked Questions

Postpartum doulas provide non-medical, evidence-based emotional, physical, and educational support to families during the first few weeks and months after birth. We help you navigate newborn care, feeding, and maternal recovery while prioritizing parental well-being.
Our postpartum doulas provide compassionate, hands-on support with light household tasks, meal preparation, feeding support, newborn education, sibling care, and ensuring moms have the time and space to rest, recover, and confidently adjust to life with a new baby.

It's never too early to secure the postpartum support you deserve. Most families reserve their postpartum doula well before baby arrives—typically during the second or third trimester—to ensure availability around their estimated due date.
Planning ahead allows us to reserve your preferred schedule and provide seamless support when your baby arrives. Securing support early also provides you with a caring and knowledgeable doula who can answer your questions, and give advice and referrals when needed.
If you are due soon or are already navigating life with a newborn and need support, don’t hesitate to reach out as we may be able to accommodate late minute support requests.
-
Daytime support is a minimum of 5 hours. When available, longer shifts can be requested.
Overnight support is a minimum of 10 hours. We believe this amount of time allows parents to truly maximize their sleep and wake feeling refreshed. When available, longer shifts can be requested.
-
We recommend scheduling postpartum support at least 2 days per week for the first 6 weeks after birth. This allows your doula to provide consistent, personalized care, including preparing nourishing meals, keeping up with light household tasks and laundry, supporting infant feeding, caring for your newborn, and giving you the time and space to rest, recover, and heal after childbirth. Many of our families choose 3–4 days per week for 8 weeks or longer to receive more comprehensive support during the fourth trimester.
Whenever possible, we encourage families to arrange a little more support than they think they'll need. While every family's needs and budget are different, an extra week or two of care can make a meaningful difference. It gives you additional time to build confidence in your new role, establish routines, recover physically and emotionally from childbirth, and enjoy these precious early weeks with your baby knowing you have compassionate, expert support every step of the way.

Our doulas are here to support your family in the way that works best for you—whether that's daytime support, overnight care, or a combination of both. We'll work closely with you to create a personalized schedule that meets your family's unique needs while ensuring our doulas can provide thoughtful, consistent, and compassionate care.

Every client has the option to request a payment plan to make the investment feel more manageable. We understand that the total cost of support can feel like a big number, but your physical and mental well-being after birth is truly invaluable.
Some of our clients have added a “Postpartum Doula” fund to their baby registry—loved ones are often more than happy to contribute to ensuring mom is cared for during recovery.
-
At this time we do not accept insurance, but it’s possible to pay for postpartum support through a Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) using a physician's letter of medical necessity.
Support can be paid by Zelle, check, or cash.

We begin with a complimentary 20-minute consultation to get to know you, learn more about your family, and discuss your postpartum goals and support needs. This is a wonderful opportunity to ask questions, explore how postpartum doula support can benefit your family, and determine the level of care that's right for you.
If you decide to move forward, we'll prepare a personalized service agreement outlining your desired schedule and length of support for your review and signature.
A 50% retainer is due upon signing your contract to reserve your place on our postpartum calendar. The remaining balance is due by 34 weeks of pregnancy. For families who prefer additional flexibility, we also offer convenient weekly payment plans.
